Safety is very important to us at Forever Suntanz. We operate in accordance with the Ministry of Health Sunlamps guidelines and the New Zealand Solaria Standards.
We understand that tanning, especially for the first time in a sunbed, can be a daunting experience. Below we’ve provided some information about tanning and tanning with us. Hopefully this answers any questions you have, but if you still have any questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to contact us.
How does tanning work?
Tanning works the same indoors as it does outdoors they are both UV exposure and should equally be considered a ‘tanning session’. The NZ sun is harsh and with cool temperatures caused by cloud cover and wind it is easy to stay out too long and get burnt. We recommend short exposure only and then covering up. It’s significantly more effective to use a sunbed and monitor your exposure than relying on your body to tell you when you’ve had enough sun or on sunscreen alone.
By controlling the type and amount of UV light you receive on a Forever Suntanz sunbed or vertical tanning capsule you can tan efficiently.
how is tanning controlled?
Each of our sunbed and tube combinations can change the length of your tanning session. When using our sunbeds there are limitations on how long your session should last, which is dependent on your skin type.
We recommend for a tanned look, you should have 2-3 sessions a week (Tanning is NOT permitted two days in a row). It will take 10-15 sessions to build up your tan. You may choose to lower the number of sessions and keep your times lower too. Once you have achieved the depth of tan you desire, cut down your visits so that you are only visiting the tanning salon often enough to maintain your tan.
The trained staff at Forever Suntanz will be able to advise you on how to tan effectively based on your personal skin type.
NB: It is essential to wear goggles at every session on our sunbeds. We provide complimentary goggles for you or you can buy your own to use.
